Excellent Read, June 9, 2014
This review is from: The Nano Experiment (Kindle Edition)
I really enjoyed this book. I cannot wait to share it with my book club. I could see this book being made into a movie. It was very suspenseful and exciting twists and turns to the plot. Many of the action scenes were vividly written where you can imagine being there. I am very satisfied with this novel.

“Eileen Robinson is a sympathetic, engaging character. She is a tortured soul, but has hope for reuniting with her children and clearing her name. You root for her from the beginning.” Tim Sheard, author of the Lenny Moss crime novels.

"The author’s inclusion of the concept of nanomedicine in the plot is articulate and intriguing...His characters are nicely done…Readers who like the thrillers and mysteries with a medical theme should find The Nano Experiment interesting and entertaining, as well as faster-paced than most books in this sub-genre." Von Pittman for The Genreview

“This is an intricate plot that clearly draws the battle lines and spells out the dire costs on all sides if they fail. The resolution is realistic, with even the winner paying a heavy price for struggling. The core of the story is a scientific morality play. Harlan Ellison would be proud of this plot.” Maryland Writer’s Association

"In The Nano Experiment Brawer writes a very unusual plot that is engrossing and intriguing. Eileen Robinson is a very resourceful character dealing with each and every adversity thrown her way. Brawer establishes Eileen as a realistic personality with resilience as well as a soft side. After I finished reading The Nano Experiment, I had to sit and contemplate the reality of it. Brawer writes spirited prose with authentic dialogue. The Nano Experiment is a stunning thriller!" http://www.conniesreviews.blogspot.com

The Nano Experiment is thought provoking by forcing further thoughts about capital punishment and racial profiling. The characters are uncomfortably realistic and the action is fast-paced. I look forward to future novels by this author." Reviews by Teri. http://reviewsbyteri.blogspot.com/

"A fascinating subject and a great read. I read and have read: Margolin, Coben, Fairstein, Baldacci etc. so, I am a good critic, and I rate your latest book (The Nano Experiment) a real winner." Lynda Davis, an avid reader.

"A fast paced read with twisting action and complex characters." This book will appeal to young adults because it does start with great action involving a main character that has all kinds of problems as a teenager allowing the reader to associate with her life. The language used is appropriate with sex scenes being minimal and discreetly described. Adults will be attracted to the fast paced read and twisting action with complex characters full of a variety of personalities that everyone can associate with. D. Deen

I have to say that The Nano Experiment is a book that grabs you from the first page and never lets you go…I enjoyed how we did get to see Eileen grow as a character…If you are looking for a fast-paced, medical thriller, go out and pick up a copy of The Nano Experiment by Richard Brawer. The Nano Experiment is a really great read! With plenty of excitement it still moves smoothly through the pages. With excellent characters who fit into the story flawlessly, they handle each and every twist and turn with ease. You will spend the entire book wondering if everything will work out okay--keep reading to find out. You won't be sorry. Richard Brawer has a knack for drama and tells a damn good story. --N. You'll know as soon as you start to read that you've found something unusual here - at first I thought I was reading a completely different book than the one described! The heroine is definitely a unique character, guilt-ridden yet strong and pragmatic. Life deals her a series of traumatic events that culminate in a race against time to save the only thing she has left - her two children. The events just kept on surprising me - in a very good way!

I really liked this book. The plot is intricate but at the same time easy to follow. The suspense keeps ratcheting up with each page. The lead character--Eileen--is well done as is her love interest, Mark, and the creepy pursuer, Colonel Springer. What I found interesting was the way nanomedicine was sprinkled in there. I had no idea that was happening. Great beach read! Looking forward to the film!

“I enjoyed the book. It’s a good read. The ending has a neat wrap-up with almost all the loose ends nicely taken care of.” Robert A. Freitas Jr., Senior Research Fellow at the Institute For Molecular Manufacturing. He has written the essay at the end of the book outlining the progress of this revolutionary field of medical science.

Writing a novel successfully from varying points of view is difficult enough (especially when the central character is not only that of a person of a different ethnicity but also one's opposing gender), yet that is exactly what author Richard Brawer has so successfully done in the Nano Experiment.
This fast-paced thriller tackles both the world of high-powered drug companies and the politically-charged issue of the death penalty with equal panache, combining the two into a riveting story. I assure you that you won't be disappointed. I look forward to reading more from this author. Excellent job, Mr. Brawer.

What an interesting and mind-boggling story. It is an easy, fun, edge-of-the-seat read.
Imagine being at the absolutely known time of your death. It comes. You are pronounced dead before witnesses by your doctor.
Then you wake up. You are in a tropical paradise in a world very much like the one you were living in. Except now you are on a small tropical island. In a compound surrounded by a high fence topped by razor-wire. In the waters around the island are ferocious sharks. And that kindly doctor, who cheerfully announced to you that you are not dead---is there. He simply put you to sleep , he said. But now he injects you with HIV fluid.
Behold! You have the makings of The Nano Experiment. Human subjects in the novel are convicted criminals sentenced to die for their crimes. They are pronounced dead by the prison doctor who is being paid by a medical research company to smuggle these prisoners out to a research facility. It is a kind of living-hell. The subjects are injected with diseases the medical research company hopes can be cured by another injection, this one containing tiny "machines" capable of rendering the diseases harmless.
But a massive hurricane sweeps the island. It sweeps the island clean---except for a pair of inmates, two lovers. These escape to the mainland. They are intent on vengeance upon the perpetrators of the experiments on them. And if they are captured inthis pursuit, what can happen? They are already declared legally dead.

At first, I didn't have much hope of enjoying the book, but after the first 20 pages I really got caught up with the story line. I personally loved the nano technology stuff in the book. It thoroughly interested me, for I'm majoring in chemical engineering, and those topics always pick my interest. The serial-killer content was also quite entertaining. I could see a lot of the general attributes a serial killer has in his or her personality; choosing same weapon or killing routine, rationalizing the killings, being haunted with trauma because of childhood abuse or neglect. Loved the book. Great job.

The reader has to wonder what happens to Eileen, the young African-American protagonist after she gets herself into an irreparable bind from the beginning, yet the plot thickens, and only gets better. Great read--I couldn't put it down.

A good book for murder/mystery fans, action lovers and fans of redemption. Lots of interesting characters. Eileen and Mark could have been more developed, the only reason for the 4 stars. Well written, clear, concise and nearly believable. A good adventure.

This book should be a movie! It has medical believable progress and the mystery of illegal going ons of big business. It is a real possibility, that bad things do happen, even in the name of progress. Some one turn this book over to a director, to make a good money making movie.

Right from the first page you'll be pulled into the story. And as you are, you will be turning each page happily wondering where you're headed and what is going to happen and how the heck are you... oops! I mean "they" are gonna get out of this one and that, as each twist and turn heightens in anticipated action and excitement to the very end. The unique storyline as it flows, makes it that much more enjoyable. The author is extremely skilled in giving you a clear picture and understanding of all character's makeup in short order, through their actions and quip dialog. Recommend you ignore any and all low rating posts produced by pompous pontificators, who find it their pitiful duty to vilify authors who have imaginative talent and ability to be good storytellers. Oh well... (yawn). So what's it come down to? I love a good story! Especially one produced by an author who has the ability to pull you into its weave. I do hope I haven't overstated it... Man! How I love a good storyteller!

A storyline that will have you wondering at dawn just where the last 8 hrs went with just 2 more chapters to go.Time to call in late & suffer the consequences as a result of Richard Brawers ability to suck you into the point of not being able to set it aside until the explosive ending! Double thumbs-up for a fanatic read.
